A Kindsugi Future Studio

Our studio houses our Kindsugi Upcycling workshops (very kindly funded by Merri-bek City Council via a Community Strengthening Grant), and is also currently the workshop where all of our upcycling crafting and creating happens!

Located: New location for 2026 to be announced soon.

Festive period opening hours:

As we’re now sold-out of our upcycled festive wrap and cards for purchase, we’ll be starting to move things out of our studio as we need to find a new home. We’re excited to re-open in the new year in a new home and with our next set of upcycled-with-love creations - we’ll keep you posted!

Need another time or help?

Don’t hesitate to reach out if a different arrangement would be helpful for you - we love trying to make things work where we can!

A Kindsugi Future, a recently established not-for-profit social enterprise based in Merri-bek, has been busy designing and hand-crafting festive upcycled gift-wrap and gift-tags, using old books and atlases that have otherwise reached the end of their traditional life (i.e. sourced from local Merri-bek op-shops unable to re-sell them, usually due to being too old, worn or damaged).

Our artists and volunteers dedicate many hours to carefully unstitching the still in-tact pages from the books and atlases, and then paint, stamp, stencil, glue and sew them into their upcycled creations; this process making every item a unique and one-off piece.

How our gift-wrap and gift-tags are made

The gift-wrap and gift-tags aim to find new life and practical use for these pages, whilst also honouring their past.

As a not-for-profit organisation, A Kindsugi Future will also direct the proceeds from every gift-wrap and gift-tag purchased towards funding its other key mission; to support our fellow humans who are impacted by loneliness and social isolation, through the development and delivery of community-building initiatives.
