A Kindsugi Future volunteers repurpose the pages from old, damaged or no longer wanted books that have reached the end of their traditional life (i.e. books no longer being read or sought after in their original form, and sourced from local Merri-bek op-shops who’ve received them but unable to sell them on).

Our artists and volunteers dedicate many hours to carefully unstitching and removing the book’s pages which are still in good condition, and then arrange, glue and sew them into fun and unique upcycled creations. We’re proud that we’re finding new life and practical use for these pages, whilst also honouring the importance and value of their past.

How our creations are made

As a not-for-profit organisation, A Kindsugi Future directs the proceeds from the sale of each upcycled creation towards funding its key mission; delivering inclusive and accessible for-purpose community art workshops, and facilitating community projects which build belonging and kindness.
